Units of Inquiry

2nd graders will complete 6 Units of Inquiry this year.  The following is a list of the theme, title, and central idea of each unit. 

 

1.  Theme:  How We Organize Ourselves

     Title:  Governments Here, Governments There, Governments, Governments Everywhere!

     Central Idea:  Governments are structured to maintain order.

 

2.  Theme:  Sharing the Planet

     Title:  What's That in the Habitat?

     Central Idea:  Living things exist in a variety of habitats.

 

3.  Theme:  How the World Works

     Title:  Our Technological World

     Central Idea:  Scientific concepts are used to create technology and advance society.

 

4.  Theme:  Who We Are

      Title:  Our Past and Present

      Central Idea:  Ancestry, community, and culture help build individuality.

 

5.  Theme:  How We Express Ourselves

 

6.  Theme:  Where We Are in Place and Time
