March 1, 2022

Dear RUSD Families,

Yesterday, Governor Newsom announced that with declining COVID-19 case rates and hospitalizations across the west, California, Oregon and Washington are moving together to update their masking guidance to make wearing masks indoors at school optional after March 11, 2022.

With this information, we now turn to the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health (LACDPH), who has a focus on our local Los Angeles County health data and safety. Local mask requirements remain present for Los Angeles County at this time. LACDPH is currently reviewing changes and will provide updated information in the coming days.

Masks continue to be required by both staff and students indoors on all of our campuses and work locations throughout the District until further guidance is received. We are required to follow the local Health Order for Los Angeles County, which has not yet made any changes to the masking requirement.

We anticipate that local Health Orders will be updated in the coming days and we will keep you informed of any pending changes to the masking requirements in our schools.

Sincerely,

Julie Mitchell, Ed.D.

Superintendent
