Connecting Ybarra's Past and Present: Reunion Took Place for Former Ybarra Students!

Connecting Ybarra’s Past and Present: On May 2, 2014 members of the Ybarra Classes of 1976, 1985, and 1986 were welcomed with open arms back to the school they love. Seven alumni got reacquainted then took a tour which included the bathrooms they remember hiding out in, their beloved kindergarten classrooms, and the impressive new computer lab. The alumni were surprised at the amount of buildings on campus since they remember there being only three buildings! Some had not been on the campus in 29 years!

The morning culminated in a meeting with the current 6th grade class.  The students were interested in seeing the slide show of 30+ year old pictures and didn’t hesitate to laugh at the alumni’s 80’s style. They also had great questions for the alumni such as, “What did you get in trouble for?” and “What was your favorite thing to do at recess?” The former and current “bears” talked for over an hour, enjoying listening to each other’s stories and creating a connection between Ybarra’s past and Ybarra’s present. “It all started thanks to Facebook! We are heading to Colima Burger for lunch since that’s where we all went in high school and more people are joining us at El Chollo’s for dinner,” said Deanna Gasca, who helped coordinate the event and shared this information.
